Life Updates and a New Venture
Hello Friends! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? In case you don’t remember me, here’s a short video.
The last time I wrote you was April 21st as we began our cross country move from Forest Grove, Oregon to Canandaigua, NY. I had every intention of writing along the way, and even when we landed, but life took over and I just disappeared.
(Unsubscribe button is at the very bottom if you never want to hear from me again. Please don’t mark this as spam. Please simply unsubscribe and I’ll *POOF* disappear from your life forever!)
I’m back now and once again I have every intention of writing to you more regularly. My favorite part is when you write me back. I miss hearing from you.
So the trip east was memorable. I took a photo of Donald at every landmark and in every state along the way. You can see them all on Instagram. It gives me pride seeing how many states, cities, and towns Donald has visited in his little doggy life.
When we arrived in Canandaigua, I spent a lot of time catching up with my parents and decompressing from the events of the drive. The summer has been rather enjoyable. And yes, the wedding is still postponed.
We’re living in a townhouse which has been a tight squeeze but I’ve lived in smaller. Donald made friends with the neighbor dog next door, Buddy, and we’ve made friends with Buddy’s humans.
So what am I doing now?
I’ve begun working as a Program Coordinator and Business Coach for an accelerator program in Oakland, California which has been enjoyable. It’s fun to help startup entrepreneurs build their dreams.
Speaking of… I’m embarking on a new entrepreneurial endeavor myself through an incubator program here in the Finger Lakes called, Embark with NextCorps.
The program began two weeks ago and I’m loving every challenging moment of it. The goal of the program is to create a b2b (business to business) software solution from idea through launch. No small feat. But a good impetus to resurrecting this newsletter. I’ll be building a SaaS with zero knowledge of how to build a SaaS through a no-code tool called Bubble.io.
Authenticity and Transparency…
I’m also going to attempt something else I haven’t done before and that’s what is call “Build in Public”. This means I’m going to build my new company from the ground up - publicly.
I’ll be sharing my ideas, trials, tribulations, woes, and successes with you through this newsletter. I’ll let you “behind the curtain” and involve you in every step.
I’ll be asking for a lot of feedback. I hope you learn with me and from my experiences and mistakes.
It’s scary to involve the public in the creation of your business. Traditional school of thought is to not share your ideas (someone might steal them) and to let the public think you know what you’re doing (don’t show weakness) until your big launch day.
Building in Public counters this idea. If you’re more interested in the how’s and why’s of Building in Public, you can read a guide here. I haven’t actually finished reading this guide but I will later today.
And that’s that for right now. I’ll be writing again soon as this program moves quickly and I need to select my target customer to serve by this Friday.
If you have a business please write me and tell me what your pain points are. Perhaps there’s a problem I can solve for you?
Till Next Time,
Heather
